Basic Twitter Training

Although Twitter isn't my favorite way of generating leads because it violates the idea of only working 2 hours per day, I'll still offer my experience and expertise in this basic training.

Keep in mind as you consider the choice of using Twitter as your main method of generating leads for your business that to do it correctly you have to get in there and make real relationships...which takes much longer than 2 hours per day 5 days per week.

But if you have the time to spend in there chatting it up with people with similar interests then you're going to do great with Twitter. (Although, it's inundated with people who just blast out their stuff without caring who comments. Most of whom won't even answer your text if you speak to them directly. Be patient and keep plugging along.)

Begin by Equipping Yourself With Free Twitter Tools.

I like Tweet Deck. because it's so easy to see what's going on in more than one window. You can see what "everyone" is saying, your mentions, and your direct messages at the same time.

You can also create searches for collecting tweets that show you who's interested in the same things that you are. You should follow those people and see if they'll follow you back, then try to generate honest to goodness conversations with them.

Don't toss a sales pitch at them. This is social media. Would you like it if someone did that to you? Hmmm?

Make Sure You Have a Way to "Capture" the Lead.

Capturing the lead for us means that they choose to get our help by filling out our auto-responder form. If they do that then you know you are both in agreement that they would like you to be the one to help them out with whatever it is you are agreeing they need help with, whether it be purchasing a product, or getting some training and coaching.

Free Blogging Tools.

If you set up a free Google Blogger blog then you can use TwitterFeed to make it so that every time you publish a post the title and minimized link posts on Twitter automatically.

This is a huge time saver. But make sure you still get on Tweet Deck and create some conversations for a few hours each day too.

Give Valuable Content.

If you can offer your Twitter followers valuable content that they can use (remember that Target Market still applies, even in social media.) then you'll have a more loyal following that will continue to grow.

Enjoy your Tweety Journey!
