Bronwen's Original Popcorn Story.

Insights from a Work at Home Mom, and how I taught my children to believe.

Around my house we have family night every Monday.

My kids (now 6, 2,and 6 months) love it.

We always have a fun activity.

One particular night, I was in charge of the lesson and activity…and I forgot! I remembered it was my turn about an hour before dinnertime, so I spent a frenzied hour preparing dinner as my hungry children began their nightly begging session.

“Can I have some toast?” My 6 year old asked.

“No.” I said. “I’m making dinner. We’ll be eating soon.”

“Can I have some crackers?” This time it was my 2 year old.

“No.” etc.

“Can I have some popcorn?” My 6 year old again.

A seed was planted!

“Yes. After dinner we’ll make some popcorn.”

I had a great idea. I was excited, even though I knew I’d be flying by the seat of my pants.

(All of my work at home mom training was about to pay off.)

I got paper and pencils and put them on the table after dinner.

Over the past several years I’ve immersed myself in the study of “The Law of Attraction” to help me improve my stay at home mom business, and come up with new ways to make extra money. What I’ve learned is that, very simply put, what we believe is what comes into our lives.

Our current reality is a product of something we were thinking in the past. Completely changeable. I had learned to apply it with online network marketing...using attraction marketing techniques to generate network marketing leads.

I had tested it, and proved it, again and again.

It’s all just fear vs. faith, and what we choose to put our energy into.

This is how I taught it to my children.

I gave each of us a popcorn kernel. (We have an air-popper at our house so we keep the real stuff around.)

My kids were thrilled! My 2 year old was particularly excited. She decided she had just found a new treasure.

How right she was!

I told them that this seed was like an idea. A good idea that we know will do a lot of good, or just make us feel good to make into reality.

I told them that they can make any good idea real, but it takes time and effort.

All eyes and ears were on me.

(A major feat with kids this young.)

Here is where I explained putting their goal (seed idea) into physical form.

They had their paper and pencil.

“What is something that you really want? Let’s practice.” I said.

My 6 year old said he wants a “Better Batter Baseball” set like he had seen on T.V. –

My 2 year old decided she wants a pink bike.

We all drew pictures of what we want.

Then I explained that putting it on paper is the first step to making it real.

The next step is to imagine we have what we want, right now, and feel how happy it feels to already have what we want.

One of those happy feelings is gratitude. So we talked about being thankful.

Then we pretended to play with the new toys.

It was really fun! We laughed and had a really great time pretending to bat at balls, and ride bikes.

It was just like we already had them –

And that’s the whole point!

I taught them that if they keep feeling like they already have their toys that after a little bit of time and effort their “seed idea” would become what they wanted it to become.

This brings me back to the popcorn.

I pulled out the air-popper, which provides heated air.

I explained to my small children that the hot air is like faith, gratitude, writing it down, and pretending it’s already real.

Without these important elements their kernel could not change.

I had them put their kernels into the popper and I turned it on.

There was no instant gratification. (Just like being a Work at Home Mom)

It took some time, but we didn’t give up because we wanted that popcorn!

The seconds ticked by, and my children's eyes shined with excitement.

They squealed when the first kernel burst forth, then the next, until almost every kernel had become a piece of popcorn.

It’s a childlike example, but it’s a good one.

Even my young children have started living like they already have what they want, with gratitude and imagination.
