Keyword Research - Crutial to getting found by search engines.

Here's WHY to do keyword research:

Because free search engine traffic, while not the fastest way to build your business, is the lifeblood of your business.

It starts small and, as you build more and more pages of your website, and back-links it can become the main source of targeted traffic to fuel your business.

You shouldn't overlook the need for doing it because...

It is the foundation on which you will build your site and write your content.

Here's how to do it with google adwords free tool:

Click Here to go to google adwords free keyword research tool.

To view this screen shot in a larger size press Ctrl and + at the same time. It will enlarge the shot.

  • Choose "Descriptive Words or Phrases"

  • Put your desired word or phrase in the box.

  • Leave the "Use synonyms box checked".

  • And fill in the code.

  • Then click "Get keyword ideas".

Now look at the results.

You should see a chart that looks like the picture below.

You only need to concern yourself two things (besides the words themselves) at this point:

  1. The "Advertiser Competition" column.

  2. And the "Approximate Avg Search Volume" column.

Now click on the "Advertiser Competition" heading to organize the list from most to least.

A full green (or for some people it shows as blue) bar indicates a lot of advertiser competition.

Because we are looking for popular words lets look for a full green bar in advertiser competition, along with a very high search volume.

What is a good average search volume?

Look for words with empty, or close to empty, green bars and anything from 100 up on search volume.

Try for a balance like this:

  • 2 words in the 1000+ range.

  • 2 word in the 100-1000 range.

  • 1 word in the 40-100 range.

Note 1: You are looking for words that you can use in a sentence.

Note 2: You are looking for words that, when searched for, will bring you your target traffic.

Remember:

Google is not the only search engine out there.

This tool only measures how many people are using google to search for what they are looking for.

So while this is a free tool, and it will give you a great idea of what's going on out there, just remember that there are other search engines - and a lot of other people using them.

If you feel that you're results are not giving you all the data that you want to be getting then try this inexpensive keyword tool.
