How to Simplify. Schedule is Very Important, Mom.

by Bronwen

Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy.

Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy.

Hello again, let's talk about how to simplify your schedule.

I know it's not always easy to put your life on a schedule that is strict enough to be useful, and flexible enough to allow for the craziness that comes with being a Mom.

But let's give it a shot.

More and more I'm hearing my mommy coachees tell me how they just didn't get to it today...and then this week...and pretty soon it turns into this MONTH.

Then there are others who tell me how they spend their WHOLE DAY and WEEK doing nothing more than business and everything else goes down the pooper.

So I think it's important to know how to simplify.

You have your important daily tasks, right?

Laundry, dishes, floors, dusting, bathrooms, bedrooms, *sigh!* getting kids ready for school, driving them to school, picking them up from school, feeding them, playing with them, stimulating their imaginations, and... well, you're a mom. Other things come up and we both know it.

But let's break this thing down now that I've stressed you out! *wink*

Let's look at your day a different way. With some serenity. Let some calm back in.

It only takes about 20 minutes to whip out a sparkling clean kitchen. Just stay on top of it. 20 minutes three times per day. That's nothing.

Deep Breath.

Getting kids ready for school in the morning takes less time if the T.V. is off, and the kids helped lay out their clothes the night before. (I've gone through this battle. It's the only thing that really works. You just have to prepare them mentally.)

Running kids to school can be a great time for inspiring them with the moral values you want to instill in your little ones.

The kids will help you with the bedrooms and toilets if you make it fun and do it together. They love it! It becomes bonding time, and it's faster with their help. Plus, you're teaching them how to work. Hooray!

So, altogether getting ready, running, teaching, and cleaning takes up how many hours of your day before 4pm?

I'm going to say about 4 hours.

Unless you're a nervous wreck the whole time and try to multi-task too much.

This is what I mean when I say simplify.

Stop stressing yourself out! It's fruitless. It doesn't get it done faster, happier, or better.

You're in charge. Take charge.

If you spend 4 hours per day cleaning and running and teaching, 2 hours working on business, and then another 4 hours cooking dinner, feeding people, clean up, and bedtime routine, then you're good to go.

Doesn't that feel better?

What's that saying: "A man can work to dusk from dawn, but a woman's work is never done?"

It's just something our sex has to accept. No matter how hard some women try to be like men they still end up cleaning house, running kids, and etc. at the end of the day.

We're BUSY. It's okay to be busy. It just means we can't lounge around eating bon bons and watching silly soap operas.

(I'm sure you're not doing that anyway. Seriously, who came up with that myth?)

When I get overwhelmed I take out a pen and paper and map out my day.

I suggest you do the same thing. And eliminate anything that you don't NEED in your day.

Things that can go:

1. Being the last minute baby-sitter.

2. The inability to say "No, I have to work."

3. Disorganization.

I know you can do it!
