How To Shine, Feed, and Produce.

by Bronwen
(Saratoga Springs, Utah)

The thing I hear the most from my "coachees" is that they "don't have time", "haven't had a chance", or "something came up and I couldn't...".

These are legitimate excuses for a mom, however, if you want to PRODUCE then you should get yourself on a schedule that really does work for you.

There may be the quarterly need to take a child to the sick and clingy child to the doctor - of course, if you child is sick then you would take the day off from any job!

But for the most part you stick to your guns and keep yourself on a schedule.

That means learning when to say "No".

"No" is an important word for work at home moms to learn.

For example: Your neighbor calls up (whether it be last second or two weeks in advance it doesn't matter.) and asks you to watch her kids for the day.

DANGER! DANGER!

This is an appropriate time for you, WAHM, to say "No". You're not a day care service and you have responsibilities to take care of.

If you think you can do both then you are in for a surprise.

If you've been in this situation and you know I'm right I sure hope you'll leave a comment on this post for future readers.

4pm will quickly race your way, while you are constantly interrupted during your 2 hour block to break up fights, deliver extra snacks, and soon you'll have been trying to get your work done for 5 hours.

You won't have gotten anything done, you'll be angry and frustrated, and you'll wish you had said "No" in the first place.

Your friend will find someone else to watch her kids.

You're work week is defined and you need to stay on task.

Remember to shine your sink in the morning, take care of your kids snacks, get them situated to watch an educational movie, or take a nap, and then sit down and get your work done in your 2 hour block.

There are things that can't be said "No" to, and there are things that MUST be said "No" to.

You're a wise woman. You know the difference. Don't let anyone push you around!
