Hot Air: An Uncomfortable Situation?

Once again I was recently discussing the popping process with a student of mine, and how she thinks change is painful.

She went on, tearfully, about the process that happens to a person, or relationship as one embarks on a major change.

She really got me thinking about discomfort, and pain...and any other "cold air" feelings that go with it.

I thought about it long and hard because her feelings had been so strong!

I have a massage every Friday (I promise this ties in) and we usually attack some painful trigger points as part of the therapy.

This last time (yesterday as of the first draft of this copy) she went after some trigger points in my glutes and it REALLY hurt.

I'm bruised today because she literally had to go after them with her elbow and all of her might to get them to release.

Here's the popcorn point:

I didn't have to hurt. All these trigger points are are tight little knots in my muscles. She simply pushes on them until the stubborn little things relax and release.

Imagine if I had just made the mental choice to be in harmony with my goal (relaxation) before my massage! How much easier it would have been if I had not prepared myself for discomfort.

However, anticipating the pain made it worse. Far worse than it had to be.

I've often heard that being in a car accident is less damaging to a body if they are asleep, than if they are awake and braced for impact.

Hmmm...less damage...

So, knowing this principle to be true based on the process I just described (my massage therapy) does it then go to say that if you and I relax and flow with the process it should then be pain free?

I say Yes.

Follow your inspiration. Allow changes to happen smoothly...you know...without a painful, bruising fight.

My Point: Let the popcorn pop.

Keep it simple.
